The MRI program is offered exclusively at El Centro College among colleges of DCCCD.
Acceptance to the MRI program is by a competitive selection process based on a weighted points ranking system. The program offers:
Magnetic Resonance Imaging Associate in Applied Sciences Degree. This program prepares people with no previous medical background to work as MRI technologists. The first year of the program consists of general education and health occupations core courses; the second year provides intensive classroom and clinical training.
The associate degree program can be completed in two five-week summer semesters and two 16-week academic semesters in the fall and spring.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging Advanced Technical Certificate (Gainful Employment Information). This certificate is for those who have earned a previous related degree or who hold current health care credentials. Potential students are considered on an individual basis. This certificate can be completed in two summer sessions plus one fall and one spring semester.
Graduates of both the AAS degree or certificate program will be eligible to take the MRI Registry examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists for the registered magnetic resonance technologist credential RT (MR)(ARRT).
