Special Requirements: We have volunteer orientation every Friday 9am-9:30am. Volunteers will fill out an application, go on a quick tour, and be able to start service hours the same day if they desire. Volunteers must be 12 years or older to volunteer. Must follow dress code: Appropriate Jeans, tennis shoes, and shirt with sleeves. Bring a positive attitude also!
Specific Opportunities: Volunteers help us do the most good through serving meals to the homeless/ working in the kitchen, filling food pantry bags with canned goods, handing out food pantry bags to low income families in our Social Services unit, going through clothing donations and organizing clothes closet, and more!
Potential Projects This Year: We'd love to see student volunteers serve a meal, put together food pantry bags, organize donations, host a food drive, have a sandwich making party (we give out about 800 sandwiches a day), or do an off site project and make Home Starter Kits. These kits like a Bedroom Kit, Kitchen Kit, or a Cleaning Kit will go to families when they move out of our facility and give them a chance at starting their own home. Families usually don't have access to these items when they're first starting out.

Description: The Salvation Army’s mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Located west of downtown Dallas, The Salvation Army Carr P. Collins Social Service Center is next to Parkland Hospital on Harry Hines Boulevard. The 161,000 square foot center, which houses up to 600 people per night, is the largest multi-use facility in The Salvation Army world. Every year, thousands of people find the spiritual and practical help they need to change their lives at The Salvation Army Carr P. Collins Social Service Center. Nowhere else in Dallas will people find so many resources under one roof. Volunteers help us do the most good through internships, serving meals to the homeless, and working in our food pantry and clothing closet.
