This is not an official degree plan. See the catalog for official degree requirements. You must receive a GPA of at least 2.50 on all college-level course work. This pathway is ONLY for students who have been accepted into the UNT-Dallas/ECC Emerging Teacher Academy. Once a student has entered the UNT-Dallas/ECC Emerging Teacher Academy, all credits must be earned at UNT-Dallas and El Centro. Students must earn at least 25 percent of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by El Centro College. You will need to apply for the associate’s degree at your college. SEMESTER 1 (Total Hours: 16)

  • ENGL 1301 – Composition I This is a (010) Core course. Must earn a grade of “C” or higher.
  • HIST 1301 – United States History I This is a (060) Core course.
  • TECA 1354 – Child Growth and Development This is a (080) Core course. There are several options to fulfill this requirement. See your academic advisor for a specific list.
  • SPCH 1311 – Introduction to Speech Communication This is a (090) Core course. There are several options to fulfill this requirement. See your academic advisor for a specific list.

The UNT-Dallas/ECC Emerging Teacher Academy requires a minimum GPA of 2.75 on at least 60 hours of transferrable work from El Centro.
