(DALLAS) — The Dallas Business Journal (DBJ) has named DCCCD Board Trustee Monica Lira Bravo to its “40 Under 40” list for 2020. The annual honorific acquaints the Dallas business community with “rising stars and people you should know in the North Texas business community,” the DBJ said.
Ms. Lira Bravo is among 20 women, who are leaders in a variety of companies spanning from some of the largest blue-chip corporations in Dallas-Fort Worth to smaller nonprofits that are not yet on many business leaders’ radars. The entire list of honorees, which also includes 20 men, was released Jan. 20. All are prime movers in health care, retail, manufacturing, technology, education, transportation and government.
“I’m honored to be named to this list along with such amazing people, in a city full of talent and rising professionals,” Ms. Lira Bravo said. “This year’s list recognizes professionals from all type of industries, and I look forward to getting to know them.”
Ms. Lira Bravo is an immigration attorney and the current District #4 board member, chair of the Education Workforce Committee and a member of the Chancellor Performance Review and Board Audit committees. Since beginning her tenure in 2016, Ms. Lira Bravo has sought to better connect the district with area schools for more early-college opportunities by emphasizing outreach.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University and a law degree from Texas Tech. She is also the founding chair of the Immigration Law Section of the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association and president of the Hispanic National Bar Association.
The 2020 “40 Under 40” honorees will be highlighted at an awards event from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at Gilley’s Dallas. She and the 39 other “40 Under 40”s will be highlighted in a digital and print special edition of the DBJ published in March. Please visit the DBJ website to see the
