Set Up Your Dallas College Email (Outlook)

  Faculty Onboarding Guide

Follow the steps below to set up your Dallas College email account after your campus IT Office notifies you of your @dallascollege.edu email address.

Important: Always use your official Dallas College email account to communicate in your role as a Dallas College employee. You should also check this email account regularly for communications from students and the college.

Step 1: Log In to Outlook

You will use Microsoft Outlook to access your Dallas College email account.

  1. Go to Dallas College Outlook on the web (outlook.dcccd.edu).
  2. Log in with your username (example: abc1234@dcccd.edu or e1234567@dcccd.edu) and the Single Sign-On password you chose when you set up your eConnect account.
  3. The first time you log in to a Single Sign-On (SSO) service, such as your email, you will be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication (also known as two-step authentication). The system should automatically redirect you from the login page to a “More information required” screen and guide you through the setup steps.

For help logging in to your Dallas College email account for the first time, contact IT at 972-669-6477 or servicedesk@dallascollege.edu.

Note: You only need to set up multi-factor authentication once, but you will use it each time you log in from outside the Dallas College Administrative Network or Secure Wireless Network (for example: when you are logging in from a home computer).

Step 2: Identify Your Email Alias

What Is an Email Alias?

After your username email address is created, IT will also create an email “alias” with a more recognizable version of your name. For example:

  • Username Email: e1234567@dcccd.edu
  • Email Alias: Anne.Carter@DallasCollege.edu

When sharing your email with students and others, you should use your email alias rather than your username email. Because your username email address reveals your login username, sharing it with others can make your account vulnerable.

Instructions: Identify Your Email Alias

  1. In your Dallas College email account, click the “New message” button at the upper left of the screen.
  2. The “From” field of the new message will show your Dallas College email address.

If your username email, rather than an email alias, displays in the “From” field, contact IT (972-669-6477 or ServiceDesk@DallasCollege.edu) to ask when your alias will be created.

Step 3: Create Your Dallas College Email Signature

After logging in to your email account, set up your signature using the standard email signature format for all Dallas College employees.
