A Phased Approach

Overview

  • The Back to Campus committee, made up of representatives from across Dallas College, has developed the Return to Campus Plan guided by the safety and well-being of employees, students and visitors of Dallas College.
  • This approach will allow limited face-to-face instruction to occur so students may complete coursework required for their credentials.
  • There are no plans for the immediate return of all employees to our locations to allow us to meet CDC guidelines regarding social distancing and safe workplace protocols.
  • Employees who have not been notified directly by their supervisor to return to campus will continue to work remotely.
  • Before returning to campus, all employees are required to read and agree to safety protocols and procedures, as well as complete required training through Cornerstone.
  • All employees are required to complete a health pre-screening daily via the web or app to help confirm that you are well and not at risk of getting others sick.
  • Procedures will also be in place for anyone who falls ill during work hours, with emphasis on the well-being of the employee, co-workers and students.
  • Face coverings will be required for anyone at our locations as this is recommended by CDC as a best practice to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19. Please bring your own face coverings and ensure that they are cleaned regularly.
  • Faculty should review instructions specific to in-person teaching.
  • The Back to Campus Committee will continue to work on the phased plan to determine which groups of employees will be included for subsequent re-entry phases, which may include staggered schedules involving both remote working and working on location.

Phase 1 (March 23-June 8, 2020)

  • Essential employees, including some vendors and contractors, continue to be on site to prepare locations for return of limited employees and students (some essential employees have been on campuses for weeks).
  • Leaders are present at some sites to prepare facilities for limited CTE and face-to-face classes.

Phase 2 (June 8-June 30, 2020)

  • Leaders are present at every site (presidents, Dallas College executive team members) to support the transition, test protocols, assess additional needs and help guide Dallas College through the subsequent phases.
  • Essential and critical employees, including some vendors and contractors, continue to be on site to prepare locations for return of limited employees and students.
  • Week of June 8 — limited campus access will be granted for students and faculty who must complete Spring coursework using face-to-face instruction.
  • Employees will be required to use the web-based application for self-health questionnaire.

Phase 3 (July 1-Aug. 31, 2020)

  • Continue to identify critical functions and roles that will be required for Fall semester (for example, financial aid, transcripts, cashiers) and prepare for limited access to Fall labs, libraries and other "hands-on" class requirements
  • Create plan for all workforce to return to campus using a staggered approach
  • Employees will be required to use the web-based application for self-health questionnaire.
