Eligibility and Admission

The Texas A&M-Chevron Engineering Academy is for first-time, full-time students and continuing students, who meet the following prequalification requirements:

  1. Applicant has earned a high school diploma or equivalent
  2. Applicant is ready for pre-calculus or calculus as determined by Dallas College. A student who has successfully completed college-level trigonometry and is ready for pre-calculus during the upcoming Fall semester may apply.
    1. A college transcript indicating successful completion (a grade of C or better) in trigonometry or pre-calculus
    2. A score of at least 600 in math on the SAT or a score of 25 in math on the ACT
      • Note: In previous years, students were required to take the SAT or ACT before applying to Texas A&M University. This testing requirement has changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As of Fall 2020, Texas A&M University will not require ACT or SAT scores for freshman applicants for Fall 2021 or Spring 2022. The submission of tests scores will not create any unfair advantage or disadvantage for those students who provide them.
    3. Credit by exam (AP, IB, CLEP) for MATH 1316 or higher
    4. A valid score on an internal mathematics assessment test
  3. Applicants must not already have a bachelor’s degree or higher
  4. Applicants cannot be current or former Texas A&M students

  1. A cumulative college GPA of 2.5 or higher (including repeat courses)
  2. Applicant has earned a high school diploma or equivalent
  3. Enough core curriculum coursework to be co-enrolled for at least one year

Beginning Dec. 1, 2020, students are reviewed for prequalification. If a student meets the minimum requirements for the Academy (as determined by Dallas College), that student will receive an email notification containing the Texas A&M-Chevron Engineering Academy application link.

Students should then submit the application and all supporting documents to the Texas A&M Office of Admission by June 30. Detailed information can be found in the Application Guide.

Successful applicants will receive an offer of admission from Texas A&M University to the Engineering Academy at Dallas College.
