Bachelor of Science in Nursing - RN to B.S.N. Track

​​​​​​​With Dallas College’s online RN-B.S.N. program, you have the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing while maintaining your work commitments.

  • Fast-track or part-time: Progress from an associate degree to RN-B.S.N. status within a condensed timeline of 12 months through focused study, or take the part-time track of 24 months to achieve your B.S.N.

Core Curriculum

Students must be Texas core-complete before beginning the RN-B.S.N. program. During the application period, students who need to sit for the NCLEX are allowable. Admission to the RN-B.S.N. program is conditional upon the successful completion of the core courses and having an unencumbered Texas license.

Admission Requirements

  1. Complete the interest form to determine if you meet criteria. This is not the same as the application.
  2. Meet the Dallas College admission standards for the RN-B.S.N. degree program.
  3. View the RN-B.S.N. program online information session (PPSX - 15MB).
  4. Submit all completed application materials to Allied Health Admissions during the designated filing period.
  5. Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended to demonstrate completion of at least 90 credit hours, including:
    1. Minimum GPA of 2.5.
    2. Provide evidence of a conferred Associate of Science degree in nursing from an accredited program of nursing — National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
    3. Provide evidence of completion of the 42-hour Texas core curriculum.
  6. Hold a current, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the United States with proof of unencumbered current Texas license. Documentation must be submitted before coursework starts.
    • An applicant waiting to take the NCLEX-RN may be conditionally admitted. Conditionally admitted applicants must pass the NCLEX before starting RN-B.S.N. curriculum course work.
  7. Submit a professional reference from a nursing supervisor/manager to RNtoBSNProgram@DallasCollege.edu.
  8. Upon acceptance: Review the general Dallas College New Student Orientation video. Complete and submit a certificate of completion. This documentation must be uploaded to CastleBranch.
  9. Upon acceptance: Submit complete documentation of a current acceptable background check, urine drug ​test, physical exam, tuberculosis screening, required immunizations, health insurance and CPR certification. This documentation must be uploaded to CastleBranch. Urine drug test and criminal background must be acceptable to advance through the program.

Admission Deadlines

The application is open year-round. However, to start in your desired semester, you should have your application submitted by the following dates:

  • Spring semester due by:  Nov. 1
  • Summer semester due by:  April 1​
  • Fall semester due by: June 24

Application Process

  • Step 1: Apply for admission to Dallas College.
  • Step 2: Submit your application for the RN-B.S.N. program. You must provide proof of conferred degree from an accredited Associate Degree Nursing program and provide proof of an unencumbered Texas RN license number.
  • Step 3: Completed admission requirements.

Additional Information

  • Every RN-B.S.N. nursing course is available online. They are structured across two eight-week sessions each semester, except for the Summer term, which consists of a single eight-week session. Enrollment in the program is limited to the first eight-week session.
    • Please note: Three courses require a clinical learning experiences:
      • NURS 3301: Health Assessment for the RN consists of 48 clinical hours which is done virtually.
      • NURS 3340: Population Focused Community Health course consists of 56 clinical hours, which is completed virtually and eight service hours in the community.
      • NURS 4465: Leadership/ Management consists of 64 clinical hours which is done in the community.
  • During each eight-week session, a student is eligible to complete up to six credit hours of NURS courses.
  • Please note: If you are classified as an international student, it’s important to understand that this track is exclusively offered online and therefore, prospective international students will need to meet with International Student Admissions to determine if they have the appropriate visa to meet SEVIS enrollment regulations.
