American Sign Language

American sign language (ASL) is more than just a visual communication tool for the deaf or hard of hearing – it’s also an art form.

Our ASL program introduces basic production and comprehension skills, including spelling and numbers. You will develop your conversational ability and be introduced to ASL grammar. With a growing demand for qualified interpreters, you could work in a variety of settings:

  • Public or private agencies
  • Schools
  • Businesses
  • Health care facilities
  • Performing arts

Interpreting sign language is complex. You need to be highly fluent in two languages to ensure linguistic and cultural knowledge translates correctly for smooth communication.
