The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Healthy Lifestyles Department provides family oriented programming for health seekers. We are currently looking for students to be fully engaged in the delivery of two of our programs Salsa, Sabor Y Salud and Get Up N GO 5210. This opportunity for service learning would be great for students majoring in Spanish, Public Health, Health Science, Social Services, Child Development/Early Childhood Education, Human Development and Nutrition Science. Salsa, Sabor Y Salud is an 8 week program that focuses on the Latino/Hispanic Family, physical activity and healthy eating by celebrating the culture through energy balance. Get Up N GO 5210 is a 12 week program that the YMCA and Children's Medical Center of Dallas are piloting to support families and their children with childhood obesity challenges. Your service learning will not only provide you with a valuable educational experience, but it will also make a much needed impact on the Dallas Community. Call contact person for more information.
