Special Requirements: An application and background check are required, as well as a 2-hour training/orientation session.
Specific Opportunities: Reading Mentors - 1 day/week, Mon-Thurs, from 3:00-5:00 pm at a New Horizons partner school, working with 2-4 students in reading and homework assistance, and providing mentorship through positive interaction with students.
Potential Projects This Year: Our after school program runs 3:00-5:00 Mon-Thurs - we would love to carve out one of those days to create a special event for our kids that is fun and educational, and is fun and educational for DCCCD too!

Description: New Horizons is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping at-risk children who are growing up in underprivileged environments of academic struggle and failure. Join us as we serve to impact the communities of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in North Texas through education and faith. New Horizons is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping at-risk children and teens growing up in environments of poverty, academic failure and hopelessness. New Horizons provides the most vulnerable members of our community with the opportunity to choose a different course for their lives through the variety of our no-cost programs.
