Common Book at North Lake

Young_Black_Chef_Cover.jpgThe North Lake Common Book project was developed to help break down the walls that frequently exist between departments and divisions across the campus, allowing everyone — from faculty and staff to students and administrators — one shared experience.

Each academic year, we offer a series of events that connect to the Common Book, either directly or through related themes. Check out our upcoming events below.

2020-2021 Common Book: Notes From a Young Black Chef

Notes From a Young Black Chef is a memoir of the challenging journey chef Kwame Onwuachi took as he became the chef he is today. It is a tale about tenacity, food, culture, family and the personal journey of a man as he tries to live out his dream.
