Head Coach, Women's Soccer
Paul Tate joined the Eastfield athletic staff in April 2018. He comes to Eastfield after spending three seasons as the men’s soccer coach at Eastern New Mexico University. In 2015, Tate’s team took the top-ranked team in the nation into double overtime and tied the sixth-ranked team during the 2016 season. While at ENMU, Tate led the Greyhounds to their first appearance in the Heartland Conference (NCAA Division II) tournament and produced several All-Conference and Academic All-Conference players.
Before arriving at ENMU, Tate served as the men’s soccer coach at McMurry University for six seasons. In 2012, he steered the War Hawks to an NCCAA Central Region Championship title and a berth in the NCCAA National Championship tournament. While at McMurry, he also developed two All-Conference goalkeepers, three All-Conference players, three NCCAA All-Region Team members, one All-Tournament Team member and one NCCAA All-American.
Through his eight seasons as a head coach at more than three colleges, Tate has also guided numerous players to PDL contracts. Prior to his head coaching experience, Tate served as the assistant coach and goalkeeper trainer for both the men’s and women’s teams at McMurry University for three seasons.
As a goalkeeper, Tate’s undergraduate playing career landed him as the all-time career saves record holder at McMurry — a record that still stands. His career also included playing goalkeeper for the Austin Posse, El Paso Patriots and the Laredo Heat, as well as a Columbus Crew trial. Coach Tate received a Master of Science degree in Physical Education and Sports Administration from Eastern New Mexico University, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Studies from McMurry University.
