Cedar Valley College President Named

To the DCCCD Community,

As you know, Cedar Valley's president, Dr. Jennifer Wimbish, announced her retirement earlier this year. We have been engaged in a national search for the college's next CEO, and Dr. Robert Garza, president at Mountain View College, has led the Cedar Valley search committee, working with our search firm, Greenwood/Asher Associates, throughout the process.

After nearly 13 years as president, Dr. Wimbish leaves a legacy of leadership and a list of accomplishments at Cedar Valley.

During the search process, we received more than 50 applications from individuals who are dynamic, diverse and excited to work toward a strong future for the college. After a round of interviews, that field ultimately was narrowed to four finalists who visited Cedar Valley last week to participate in forums and to meet the campus community.

After careful consideration of those four excellent candidates, I have selected Dr. Joe Seabrooks to become Cedar Valley's next president.

Dr. Seabrooks brings with him a commitment to leadership, academics, student success and diversity. He currently serves as president of Metropolitan Community College – Penn Valley in Kansas City, Missouri. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology; a master's and educational specialist degree in higher education administration; and an interdisciplinary doctorate in urban leadership, policy studies and education administration, all earned from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

I will make my recommendation to the DCCCD Board of Trustees next week during the June 29th meeting.  We will announce his start date later.

I appreciate the input we received from the Cedar Valley community throughout this process as well as the hard work of the Cedar Valley search committee.

Congratulations to Dr. Seabrooks and the entire Cedar Valley family as the college moves forward to serve their students and the community.

Joe D. May
