Synopsis by Musical Theatre International
Theatre students at Brookhaven will present Triumph of Love
July 13-24, 2016. An adaptation of the classic comedy, Triumph of Love
is full of deception, gender confusions and all the complexities of l'amour — revealing the beauty, absurdities and bittersweet nature of love.
The
chamber musical tells the story of Princess Leonide and the handsome
Agis who, along with their hilarious "henchmen,” become lost on the
messy path to love. Princess Leonide loves Agis, who unfortunately is
planning to kill her but unknowingly falls in love with her. All of this
happens only after Agis discovers Princess Leonide is not a male
student, as her original disguise suggested — a disguise that served
convincing enough for another woman to fall in with her. All this fun
and we've not yet made it to intermission! The riotous romp only gains
momentum as multiple stories of swift infatuation come to a head for our
cast of characters.
Audiences will be engrossed with the sexy repartee, comical buffoonery and unexpected tenderheartedness in Triumph of Love. This tongue-in-cheek comedy shows us that love truly knows no limits!
