Upward Bound Tutors provide one-on-one or group tutoring in Math, Science, English and History. Specific subjects may include, but are not limited to Algebra I and II, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Physics, Life Science, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, World History, Geography, U.S. History, Government and Economics.
Requirements
- Tutors must have completed one semester of college, have a grade point average of 2.5 or above, and have a letter of recommendation from an instructor.
- Upward Bound Tutors must be available Monday through Thursday to tutor Upward Bound students at Irving, Nimitz and MacArthur High Schools Academy of Irving. Tutors are responsible for providing their own transportation to the high schools.
- Upward Bound Tutors are expected to be prompt, appropriately dressed and have all necessary tutoring documentation, e.g. Daily Sign-In sheets, Tutorial Records, etc. The records should be detailed and accurate to reflect the student’s daily academic performance in tutoring.
Hourly Pay Rate
We pay $11.54 an hour with no more than 12 hours in a given week. Timesheets are due to the tutor coordinator the last Thursday before the monthly Monday payroll deadline. Tutors are paid on the last working day of the month.
