All plans can be modified to fit the needs of part-time students. This is not an official degree plan. Refer to catalog for official degree requirements. A minimum grade requirement of “C” or better for ALL the courses in the Associate Degree Nursing (BHC) is required. Students must earn at least 25 percent of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College. Certain courses for this program are only offered at the Brookhaven Campus. PREREQUISITE SEMESTER (Total Hours: 14)

Applicants must complete the prerequisite courses with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher and must meet the conditions of Application Eligibility to apply to the nursing program.

  • ENGL 1301 – Composition I This is a (CB 010) Core course. Must earn a grade of “C” or higher.
  • CHOOSE ONE:
    • BIOL 2401 – Anatomy and Physiology I To register for BIOL 2401 you must complete the prerequisite of a grade of “C” or better in BIOL 1406. This is a (CB 030) Core course. OR
    • SCIT 1407 – Applied Human Anatomy and Physiology I
  • CHOOSE ONE:
    • CHEM 1405 – Introductory Chemistry I CHEM 1405 fulfills the prerequisite requirement to program admission for Associate Degree Nursing (BHC); however, CHEM 1405 would transfer as a General Elective course for Columbia College Semester 1. OR
    • CHEM 1411 – General Chemistry I CHEM 1411 is required by Columbia College and would fulfill the CHEM 110 requirement for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree replacing a General Elective course for Columbia College Semester 1. The remaining General Elective would be 1 credit hour.
  • PSYC 2314 – Lifespan Growth and Development This is a (CB 080) Core course.

SEMESTER-BY-SEMESTER MAP FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS

Students must enroll in the Columbia College Associate to Bachelor’s (A2B) program before the end of the 2020-21 academic year to lock in the 2020-21 academic catalog. All Dallas College credit transfers to Columbia College as Lower Level Credit. The Columbia College Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. It is best to apply to Columbia College a full semester before you plan to transfer. It will help if you submit a copy of this pathway with your application. Students must be a current RN to be admitted to the BSN program. The Columbia College degree requires 39 hours of upper level credit. Eighty-one (81) of the 120 credit hours required can be completed with courses taken at Dallas College.
