(DALLAS) — Dr. Wright Lassiter Jr., chancellor of the Dallas County Community College District, was honored recently by the National Association of College Auxiliary Services during its annual conference in Anaheim, Calif. During that meeting, the NACAS board of directors voted to create an annual honor, the Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. Award, which commemorates Lassiter’s legacy and recognizes outstanding contributions of an NACAS member or institution that furthers the mission of auxiliary/ancillary services in higher education. The first award will be presented at the organization’s fall 2014 conference.
Lassiter was a founding member of NACAS and its first president. A scroll detailing the NACAS board resolution creating the award was presented to the chancellor in a hand-crafted wooden box, lined with red satin. The organization also proclaimed Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, as Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. Day.
Lassiter also was recently honored by the Greater Dallas Indo-American Chamber of Commerce at its annual awards banquet; he was presented the 2013 Outstanding Contribution in the Field of Education Award.
