J. William (Bill) Wenrich, who elevated the Dallas County Community College District to national recognition at the turn of the 21st century and helped create the internationally acclaimed Rising Star Scholarship Program, died on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, from pancreatic cancer.
One hundred STEM Financial Support Awards are available for eligible DCCCD students in Fall 2010. These $1,000 awards will be made in two installments of $500 (for Fall 2010 and Spring 2011).

Brookhaven College’s associate degree nursing program has received a full, two-year approval from the Texas Board of Nursing with a commendation; Dr. Wright Lassiter Jr. recently received the 2010 Alpha Legacy Community Service Award from the Xi Tau Lambda chapter (Dallas) of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc; and Randy Conine of Richland College was named a 2010 Minnie Stevens Piper Professor. If you’re a Texas high school senior ranked in the top 10 percent of your graduating class and can demonstrate financial need, you may qualify for a $2,000 scholarship to attend a Texas public college or university (which includes the colleges of DCCCD) — but you have to act fast! Three DCCCD colleges have received a $987,302 grant titled “DCCCD Child Care Quality Initiative” from Workforce Solutions for Dallas County.
