Your DCCCD Email Address Is Changing

Updated: 12/7/2018

We've got some important news for our retirees: Your DCCCD email address has changed.

Over the years, retiring employees have been granted ongoing access to district email accounts and district services.

Because technology and services have evolved, Dallas County Community College District is moving to a new process that will continue offering email for retirees, while also following best practices for security and email management.

A New Email Address for Retirees

All retiree email accounts have been moved to new email accounts with a new email domain — from @dcccd.edu to @retiree.dcccd.edu.

NEW Your new retiree email address will include your previous email alias and the new domain.

For example: yourname@retiree.dcccd.edu.

If you did not have an alias previously, a new one was created for you as firstname.lastname@retiree.dcccd.edu.

NEW Accessing Your Email

Retirees can access their new email accounts by clicking on "Email" at the top of the district website, or by visiting outlook.dcccd.edu.

You will log in to Outlook on the web with your retireeID@retiree.dcccd.edu (i.e. r7654321@retiree.dcccd.edu).

You will also use your retiree ID to access eConnect and eCampus (i.e. r7654321).

Additional Changes

In addition to the new email address, retirees will be able to maintain their Microsoft Office 365 license, which provides free online file storage, along with online versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Retirees will still have access to retiree information in eConnect but will lose access to eCampus, myPortal and other district services for current employees.

While IT is setting up the new @retiree.dcccd.edu accounts, emails that have been sent or received after Jan. 1, 2018, will be migrated to the new accounts.

If users need access to emails from before Jan. 1, 2018, they will be able to make a special request to have the emails migrated. These emails will be reviewed for any personally identifiable information (PII) in the body of the email — like Social Security numbers or credit card numbers — before they’re moved into the new system.

District IT and the software trainers and developers at LeCroy have developed training materials to help retirees move their existing contacts into their new account.

When Is the Change Happening?

All current retiree accounts have been moved to the new domain.

Future retirees will have their new retirement email accounts established on the new domain once they retire.

What If I’m Still Teaching or Working Part Time?

Retirees who continue to work for the district as adjuncts, dual credit faculty or part-time staff will still have access to their @dcccd.edu email address while they’re employed by the district. Access to the @dcccd.edu email accounts will be disabled once employment ends.

Working retirees will maintain their same login for @dcccd.edu email and services and a separate login for @retiree.dcccd.edu for their retiree account.

Look for More Information

As the project is finalized, additional information will be available on the DCCCD Retiree Association website at dcccd.edu/retiree.

Retirees should also look for an email with additional instructions, in their current @dcccd.edu email account.
