Guy retired as district director of staff and organizational development. In that position, he revised the New Employee Orientation program, developed the Visions of Excellence series for new faculty and made the awards ceremony for district employees a memorable event by holding a special reception and ceremony for them and their families.
Before working at the District Office, Guy was SPAR (Student Programs and Resources) director at Mountain View College, where he organized the student government, student clubs and made student programs true co-curricular experiences for students.
Guy developed the “New Mexico Experience” trips, a growth experience that was also fun for all students who participated. By working with SPAR directors throughout the district, he offered students access to different worlds and different visions of themselves.
He was active in the National Council of Staff, professional and Organizational Development, making presentations and helping with conferences. He and a colleague developed the Texas Cultural Alliance, which offered international travel opportunities to students and brought art from students around the world to the DCCCD.
In retirement, Guy worked for a few years part-time as co-director of development for the Center for Formation in Higher Education. He has done professional writing, having chapters in two volumes accepted for publication. He is a volunteer for a sanctuary for exotic animals in Edom where he grooms exotic animals.
In fall 2010 Guy helped with the Edom Festival of the Arts by recruiting and coordinating volunteers for hospitality for the 75 artists participating in the festival.
