Celebrating 50 Years of Educational Excellence
Class of 2020
Making History
On behalf of the Board of Trustees for the Dallas County Community College District, congratulations on your graduation! During these unprecedented times there were no instruction manuals, yet you committed yourselves to your classes, stayed the course and achieved your dreams.
We want you to be ready for new jobs and new opportunities. We also want you to be prepared for change. You must be able to adapt to dynamic, real-life situations and each of you have proven that you can do just that during this pandemic. You are entering a tough job market, and you are tough too. We've instilled in you an "Education That Works," regardless of your next step in life - whether you are transferring to a university to continue your education or entering the workforce.
The District's colleges enroll students of all ages and from all walks of life. The students at our seven colleges reflect and represent our multifaceted communities. You, our graduates, are the reason for our existence and you are an integral part of the beautiful, diverse social fabric that is Dallas County.
Very soon, our seven colleges will become a single institution - Dallas College. You are the last class of students that will graduate from the seven individual colleges, and we are especially proud of this historymaking class of graduates. Your determination and grit to finish strong will be remembered for years to come. Congratulations!

Jennifer McGuire
Jennifer McGuire was born, raised and resides in Waxahachie, Texas. This geeky fan-girl has just enough tech knowledge to get her in trouble. Have you heard of a little book called “Fifty Shades of Grey”? McGuire not only designed the covers for all three books in the trilogy, but also co-founded the publishing house that launched this global phenomenon. Currently, she applies her creativity as Instructional Technologist at Mountain View College, where she supports all college employees with her vast knowledge and skills related to technology. She will graduate with her Associate of Arts degree from Mountain View College and transfer to Texas A&M University-Commerce to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership.
Neville Scott
Neville Scott is a first-generation immigrant who moved to the United States with hopes of broadening his intellectual horizons. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and, in 2019, was elected to serve as an International Officer – Vice President representing 322 PTK chapters in eight states, Peru and the British Virgin Islands. Scott plans to pursue his education in civil engineering, computer science and architecture. His career goals include enhancing the quality of life through the development of advanced physical infrastructures such as roadways and bridges.
Faculty Speaker
Samar Kolailat
Samar Kolailat has been a professor of chemistry at Mountain View since 2013. She views her students as her children and cares deeply about helping them achieve their life goals. Kolailat’s classroom philosophy is for her students to do their personal best and know that a test or project grade does not define them. She believes it is hard work, ambition and perseverance that demonstrates a person’s character. Through her teaching, she encourages her students to keep climbing and never give up. Kolailat is the co-advisor for Mountain View’s American Chemistry Society. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in higher education from Northcentral University. A mother of two, her son will be a Mountain View Lion in the Fall.
