Zachary holds a BA in English Education, an MA in English, and an MS in Educational Leadership. As a scholar-practitioner, Zach has 12 years of work experience throughout the P-20 spectrum as a civic youth events coordinator, site director of a Title I academic mentoring program, secondary school language arts instructor, associate director of a pre-college readiness program, college instructor, and admissions reader.
His scholarly interests include examining the intersection of informatics and sociolinguistics as they pertain to pre-postsecondary access information in digital settings. As a researcher, he has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles, many in top-tier journals such as the Journal of College Student Development, Higher Education Quarterly, and the Journal of Hispanic Higher Education, among others. As a practitioner, he has performed readability audits for hundreds of postsecondary institutions across the United States and frequently speaks on the topic of readability, translation, and web accessibility of institutional materials meant for student audiences.
