Student-Centered. Peer Driven. Nationally Recognized.
"Best Practices for Teaching Online" is a competency-based online faculty professional development program, collaboratively developed, featuring online students and faculty at multiple institutions, and officially recognized by the
National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD)!
Collaboratively Developed. Openly Accessible.
Best Practices for Teaching Online prepares faculty to implement
quality course design practices, supporting an informal course development process (non-evaluative). This program is the
result of collaboration between multiple higher education institutions who have worked together in support of online faculty. The course is openly accessible (public) and there is no cost associated with participation, consideration or adoption. An estimated 4-6 hour faculty commitment is required to complete all course materials and can be applied towards annual professional development requirements.
Improve Your Course. Obtain a Certificate. Receive National Recognition.
Faculty, this program has been created for you!
Best Practices for Teaching Online is developed for faculty seeking to obtain a foundation in online teaching practices that directly improve course design and enhance the student experience. The course and
supporting rubric (PDF - 246 KB) are simple enough for new online faculty to implement, yet robust enough to encourage continuous improvement for seasoned online educators.
Upon completion of the 4-6 hour competency-based course, faculty will receive a digital credential, as well as formal recognition from NISOD (for member institutions) at the annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence.
Participate in the Course!
Best Practices for Teaching Online officially launched at the 2019 NISOD International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence and is now available, for free, to all higher education institutions.
