​​​​​​Dallas College grant-funded training programs include Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, WorkReadyU and Skills for Small Business.

Target audience: Small business owners

Goldman Sachs 10ksb logoIn Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, owners of small businesses will gain practical skills in topics such as negotiation, employee management and marketing that can immediately be put into action. In addition, they will receive the tools and professional support to develop a strategic and customized growth plan that will take their business to the next level.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Small business owner or small business co-owner.
  • Business in operation for at least two years.
  • Business revenues over $150,000 in the most recent fiscal year.
  • Business with a minimum of four employees (including the owner).

Target audience: Those age 16 or older who need basic skills for work

WorkReadyU is an adult education program that will teach you the skills you need for college or career success. Free classes help you:

  • Improve math, English, reading and writing skills.
  • improve interviewing, time management and other workforce skills.
  • Earn a high school equivalency (GED).

Eligibility requirements: 

  • At least 16 years old and unable to read, write and/or speak English; or
  • At least 16 years old and cannot pass one or more parts of the TSI (Texas Success Initiative Assessment).

Target audience: Employees of small businesses

Dallas College offers the Skills for Small Business (SSB) program to provide training for small, private businesses in the area. Participating business partners can select training courses for their new and/or existing employees that will contribute to the enhancement of their businesses’ operations.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Be a private business.
  • Employ at least one and not more than 99 individuals companywide.
  • Be financially stable.
  • Be liable to pay unemployment insurance contributions to TWC and be in compliance with the reporting and payment requirements.
