Smriti Goswami began her teaching career in Mountain View as an adjunct clinical instructor of nursing in 2013. She became a full-time instructor as a visiting scholar in 2014 and in August 2016 became full-time nursing faculty. As faculty, she has taught classes from didactic to clinical. As a clinical instructor, she worked in area health care facilities including Parkland Hospital, Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Methodist Dallas Medical Center, Methodist Charlton Medical Center and Methodist Richardson Medical Center. Although, OB/GYN is her specialty, she has taught many other classes.
Before teaching at Mountain View, Ms. Goswami worked as a women’s health nurse practitioner with Dr. Bruce Wang, an OB/GYN physician for Texas Health Resources (THR), with the opportunity to serve women of all ages. She also worked as an RN in THR Arlington Memorial Hospital for four years as bedside nurse, nurse preceptor and charge nurse, serving a diverse population.
Ms. Goswani received a Master’s of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas at El Paso; a Women’s Nurse Practitioner degree from UT-Southwestern Medical School; and a Bachelor’s of Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. Her graduate research focused on a qualitative study on postpartum depression and teenage pregnancy, and her research interest is health promotion and preventative care for women of all ages. She speaks English, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu and functional Spanish.
She is a member of the American Nurses Association (ANA) and former member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN). She loves community service, and served as a volunteer in Mother Theresa‘s organization in Kolkata, India. She is an active member of the Lily Foundation of Dallas-Fort Worth, serving needy people nationally and internationally, and likes to empower her students through her diversified knowledge and experience.
