Shelley D. Ford, M.S.N., RN

Associate Degree Nursing faculty, Mountain View College

Shelley Ford joined the Mountain View College nursing faculty in the fall of 2013. Her teaching experience includes classroom lecture, clinical rotations, skills lab instruction and online teaching for both ADN and LVN nursing students. She has taught courses in pediatrics, medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, nursing fundamentals, community health and obstetrics. Professional nursing and management experience includes trauma and emergency services, pediatric intensive care, outpatient oncology, home care and hospice care.

Ms. Ford has served as an RN in the trauma center and emergency department of Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital; as a staff nurse in the accident and emergency department of Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in London, England; as an RN in the pediatric ICU of Cook Children’s Medical Center; as the branch manager in home care and hospice in Fort Worth’s Visiting Nurse Association; and as a vocational nursing instructor at the Arlington campus of Concorde Career College. She also worked as the primary clinical nurse for Dr. George R. Blumenschein, world-renowned oncologist, breast cancer specialist and author, before he retired in 2008.

Ms. Ford holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas, and a master’s degree in nursing leadership and management from Walden University in Minneapolis. She is pursuing a doctor of nursing practice degree from American Sentinel University in Aurora, Colorado. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, American Nurses Association and Texas Nurses Association.
