Associate Degree Nursing faculty, El Centro College Debra D. Cameron serves as full-time faculty in El Centro’s program and also teaches at the North Lake satellite site. She teaches second semester lecture and skills, as well as third semester clinical at Baylor Scott & White Hospital. She is also an adjunct faculty member for Texas Woman’s University Nursing program.
She holds a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Texas Woman’s University. She holds a Texas teaching certificate from Lamar State University. As a registered nurse, her professional experience includes critical care ICU for Baylor Scott & White, where she began working in 1997. She also has 16 years of experience teaching health and science courses at the secondary education level, serving as health science program director for Irving and Coppell ISDs. Since 2011, she has worked as a nursing evaluator for the state of Texas.
She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and Zeta Tau Alpha Social Sorority. Honors include a Dallas Business Journal Health Care Heroes Academic Award, Dallas Morning News Teacher Recognition Award, Irving ISD Employee of the Month, Coppell ISD GEM Award for Teacher Excellence, Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and Texas Health Occupations Association Teacher of the Year.
