Tom Terrell serves as an adjunct instructor in Real Estate for Cedar Valley College and the University of North Texas. He also teaches Mandatory Continuing Education courses for Purvis Real Estate Training Institute and the Arlington Association of Realtors. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma on a U.S. Navy competitive scholarship and was commissioned at graduation as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. For action in Vietnam in 1967, as a USMC captain and company commander, he received the Bronze Star with Combat ‘V’ for Valor and the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat ‘V’. He has done postgraduate work in religious education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and legal studies at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law.

He is a real estate broker who has served on the Texas Real Estate Commission’s Broker/Lawyer Committee, as well as a mortgage broker and author, lecturer and expert witness in real estate lawsuits. A former radio talk show host for his own program, “Real Estate Realities,” on KGBS-AM, he has co-authored real estate textbooks that have been adopted by several universities and colleges.

Terrell is a life member of the Texas Real Estate Teachers Association and the Texas Real Estate Buyer Agents Association, which recognized him as “Outstanding Consumer Advocate and Real Estate Agency Educator.” He has taught for UNT’s Professional Development Institute and at the University of Texas-Austin, Texas Christian University,  TWC, TCJC and the American College of Real Estate. He earned the National Association of Realtors’ Real Estate Buyer Agents Council’s (REBAC) designations of accredited buyer representative and senior real estate specialist and was rated as one of REBAC’s five highest-rated instructors nationally with the RealtyU 5.0 Club Award.

He was awarded the 2006-2007 Excellence in Teaching Award for Adjunct Faculty in the seven-college DCCCD and was a founding member of the Texas Real Estate Teachers Association (TRETA), the Texas Real Estate Buyer Agents Association (TREBAA) and the National Association of Mortgage Planners. He was certified by the Texas Real Estate Commission to teach Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) courses in numerous subjects. For 10 years, he and his wife, Kathleen, directed and taught in the Professional Real Estate Programs And Related Education (PREPARE) program, which they founded. Under the auspices of UTA, PREPARE became one of the largest single-location real estate programs in Texas.
