Resources for Mortgage Banking Students

A number of scholarship and career resources are available to mortgage banking students at North Lake College.

Scholarship resources

Scholarships are available to students who complete at least 6 credit hours toward a mortgage banking degree or certificate, with a GPA in those courses of at least 3.0 and an overall GPA of at least 2.75. Some of the available opportunities:
  • Texas Mortgage Bankers Association Scholarship ($300 per semester)
  • Dallas Mortgage Bankingers Association Scholarship ($650 per semester)

Career resources

These career resources are available to all students who file a credit degree plan request form (PDF), demonstrating their plan to graduate with an associate degree in mortgage banking.
  • Quarterly job listings, sent to NLC by area businesses which hire NLC graduates. These listings are posted online in PDF format and distributed to students who have formally declared their intent to pursue the mortgage banking degree.
  • Job listings posted by the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association (TMBA)

Mortgage Banking Bound: an online career credential and job bank

Students who have passed a prerequisite class at NLC (either BNKG 1353 or RELE 1324) can apply, for free, to a series of webinars from the Mortgage Bankers Association. The online course, called Mortgage Banking Bound, puts students on a certification path, and passing the course grants students access to a nationwide job bank of employers looking for holders of this certificate.

Mortgage Banking Bound is ideal for students who want a simple path to a credential which allows a national search for good-quality entry-level jobs.
