Chris Wood has been active in the welding industry since 2002. He earned his associate degree in welding technology from Mountain View College. He began teaching part-time with Dallas County Community College District in the fall of 2008.
As an instructor and workforce development coordinator at the Bill J. Priest Institute, Wood contacts welding companies to build relationships and train a robust workforce. He also plays a pivotal role in educating students on how to weld – combining both hands-on training and lecture – and is actively involved in curriculum development and implementation.
Wood is an authorized Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) instructor and a member of the American Welding Society. Since 2008, he has owned C.W. Welding, a welding and fabrication business in the DFW metroplex. Wood's company provides fabrication and repair of metal components as well as consulting and individualized instruction.
