Byron Zarrabi is an alumnus of the Mountain View College Welding Technology program, where he earned an associate degree. He also holds a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Zarrabi has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry and has worked as a combination welder and team leader for Fluor Daniel Construction in Dallas. He has also worked in the marine industry, building large aluminum vessels in Seattle. He owned and operated his welding/fabrication shop for more than 15 years.
In 2002, Zarrabi began teaching welding technology as an adjunct faculty member at Mountain View College. In the fall of 2008, he became the welding program coordinator and a full-time faculty member at El Centro College, where he organized and started an Industrial Arts and Technologies section for DCCCD Workforce Development. Today, Zarrabi is the Assistant Director for Advanced Manufacturing Technologies at DCCCD, which includes welding, machining, industrial maintenance and automation.
