GIS Lab Coordinator

GIS Lab Coordinator Jerry Bartz, who also serves as an associate geologist for the Ellison Miles Geotechnology Institute, holds a master’s degree in geochemistry and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, both from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He did three years of postgraduate work at the University of Texas, and as a geology teaching assistant there received the Graves Scholarship for Teaching Excellence.

He worked for 15 years as a geologist in the oil and gas industry, with extensive cartography experience; for five years as a consultant in environmental geology; for two years as a quality control chemist in DNA research; as a database analyst programmer; and as a teacher of chemistry and physics at high school level and a science teacher in a college preparatory middle school.
