June Owens is owner of Whirling O Productions and an award-winning producer, director and writer who has produced more than 120 videos and films. She has been recognized nationally and internationally for her work, including receiving awards for her documentary photography and photo-based video and film art. She has produced projects with Meryl Streep, LeeAnn Rhimes and Byron Nelson.
She is pursuing a doctorate at the University of Texas at Dallas’ School of Arts and Humanities, with an emphasis in arts and technology. Her dissertation project is titled “Afterimages and Echoes: Drawing Parallels between the Depression and the Recession in Rural America.”
She has served on many boards, including two years for Women in Film.Dallas. In 2004, she served as the coordinator producing a national public service announcement about Gilda’s Club, featuring Meryl Streep winning a Gracie Allen award. She was a board member of Habitat for Humanity’s new joint effort called “Women Build” among leading businesswomen in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
She has taught numerous classes at North Lake, and currently teaches Business Aspects of Video Technology.
