Shernay L. Wormley, M.S.

​Shernay L. Wormley is a creative and driven leader, who comes from a strong professional background in Marketing, Visual Communications and Higher Education. In her previous position, she was a Lead Program Coordinator for the Office of Student Engagement and Retention at Eastfield College. She worked with various faculty, as well as student clubs and organizations, to help them achieve their student travel, event marketing and program funding goals. Ms. Wormley also managed and directed many of the campus special event programs for Eastfield from concept to execution from 2016 to 2018. Her diverse talents allowed her to reach the student population successfully by implementing strategies that increased student engagement and retention. Ms. Wormley has been with the Dallas Community College District since 2012.

She started her career in Marketing as a staff member with Cedar Valley College's Public Information and Communications department as a Graphic Designer and Marketing Assistant from 2012 to 2014. After completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising Design from the Art Institute of Dallas in 2011, Wormley decided to pursue her Master of Science degree in Marketing from Texas A&M University-Commerce to develop a deeper understanding of how marketing relates to consumer behavior. While pursuing her Master of Science Degree in Marketing, Wormley volunteered her time at a small nonprofit organization to help build their creative marketing strategies in the community and to gain additional client marketing experience. She also started doing social media, product marketing and sales. Additionally, she handled online marketing for other local clients, ranging from best-selling authors to entrepreneurs and religious organizations to developing businesses.

With her clients, Wormley focused on "push-pull marketing strategies" to build a stronger value proposition with consumers and grow B2B and B2C methods for profit. Her methods helped sustain various brands and built better business partnerships in the community. After gaining this experience, Wormley discovered she wanted a career that unleashed her creative problem-solving abilities and also wanted to help meet the needs of various target audiences. She completed her Master of Science in Marketing from TAMUC in 2015 and began her new professional journey. During the Spring 2015 semester, Wormley was recruited to teach and joined the Continuing Education department at Eastfield College as an adjunct instructor. In her first course, she taught an advanced software class for the Adobe InDesign CC Spring Fast Track cohort. She trained professionals on core features of the software so they could master client projects more effectively with current software trends.

Her love for knowledge, problem-solving and working with various target audiences has allowed. Wormley to be able to share her unique background with others, particularly those new to the Marketing and Visual Communications discipline. During the Spring 2018 semester, Wormley was offered an opportunity to join the Business and Management Faculty team coordinated by Emilio Lopez, as an adjunct instructor for the Principles of Marketing course. Wormley looks forward to making a difference in the lives of others and to continue to inspire greatness in the process.
