Justo Vargas started working full time when he entered college at the Universidad Nacionál de Ingenieria (UNI) in Lima, Peru, teaching geometry to students in preparation for the university's entrance exam. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, he began working in the construction industry for a subsidiary of a Japanese corporation, where he advanced to the position of project manager. After three years, he pursued a Master of Business Administration degree from the Escuela de Administración de Negocios para Graduados in Lima, and then taught operations research at college level and computer science at graduate level.
He joined the industrial world in Curacao, Netherland Antilles, as a systems engineer with the start-up of an overseas plant and transferred to Dallas to work at the divisional level. He considers himself fortunate to have work in diverse business environments and locations, from high-pressure start-ups to rapid growth and turnaround environments in more than 20 industries and 30 countries. While continuing to work full time, he earned a CPA license, a Juris Doctor (law) degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and an Attorney at Law license. He holds certifications as a Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) and Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) and is certified in Integrated Resource Management and Production and Inventory Management.
Mr. Vargas is an experienced Lean and Six-Sigma practitioner with well-developed collaborative skills. He leads cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative process-based solutions and to build infrastructures of operational excellence to design, produce and deliver value to customers. His teams have negotiated multimillion-dollar international contracts, joint ventures and strategic partnerships. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.
