Corey Masters

Adjunct Faculty, Management
Eastfield College

A native Texan born and raised in the DFW metroplex area, Corey Masters graduated from South Grand Prairie High School and started his college education on a full football scholarship to Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, where he was a 4-year letterman. He graduated from TCU with a degree in business with an emphasis in marketing and a minor in psychology. He received a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Southern Methodist University (SMU) with concentrations in marketing, strategy and entrepreneurship, and strategic leadership.

He spent almost 14 years with Fidelity Investments in Dallas in positions including financial services representative, lead facilitator for the Electronic Response Department, manager of financial services representatives and retirement solutions sales manager. He was accepted into the first class of Fidelity’s General Management Apprenticeship (GMA) program as one of 42 participants from an application pool of nearly 1,000 candidates.

His next career move was with State Farm Insurance, partnering with a family member as she opened a franchise. After the successful launch of her business, he continued in entrepreneurship by partnering with a friend to open a local store, Mattress One. Concurrent involvement with Smoothie King involved financing a new location in Memphis, Tenn., in 2013. Given the success of the first location, he signed a new franchise agreement for Texas. As with all franchisees, responsibilities include hiring, marketing, management and operations duties.
