Ronald Schmidt has served as the coordinator of Brookhaven's Business and Management programs since July 2017. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree and Master of Science degree in accounting from the University of Dallas. He is also a Certified Management Accountant and Certified Financial Manager.

Before entering academia, he spent 21 years in industry, serving as controller, chief financial officer and chief operations officer in the food and hospitality and manufacturing industries; he also owned a manufacturing company in the construction industry. An entrepreneur at heart with extensive experience in operations and management, Mr. Schmidt has helped grow and turn around numerous new ventures, including one that became a national franchise.

He began his academic career at Brookhaven College as an adjunct instructor and later joined the Accounting, Business and Economics programs at El Centro, where he served for eight years. At El Centro, he served as the college strategic planning chair and DCCCD Accounting curriculum chair, as well as the advisor to Phi Theta Kappa, the academic honor society for two-year college students.

Mr. Schmidt previously taught at the University of Dallas graduate School of Management, the University of Dallas Braniff College of Business and Texas A&M-Commerce, in subjects in business, accounting, finance and economics.

He served in the U.S. Army for 30 years, most of which were in field artillery and training environments.
