Kathy Yates has taught American Government courses at the colleges of DCCCD since the opening of El Centro College in 1966. She transferred when Richland College opened in 1972.

She holds a bachelor’s degree as a summa cum laude graduate in political science and history, as well as a master’s degree in political science from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls. She has completed further graduate work at the University of North Texas and at Indiana State University.

Over her 40-year career, she not only has taught in the classroom but also helped to create the first telecourse offered by the colleges of DCCCD in 1972. She also teaches iLearning Communities and online classes.
