Cedar Valley College
A Truman Scholar, David McCoy holds a bachelor’s degree from Hendrix College and earned his law degree from Harvard Law School. During the summers between law school he clerked at three of Dallas’ largest law firms. Currently he is a doctoral candidate at the University of Texas at Austin. His primary research interests are comparative judicial politics and the sources of ethno-nationalist conflict. He spent nine months in France researching the political origins of the French Constitutional Council, as well as abusing the French language. In the summer of 2006, he traveled to Senegal with Fulbright funding to study that country’s emerging democracy and while there, narrowly escaped grave injury by the tusks of a warthog. McCoy has been a visiting lecturer at the Russian Republic’s State University of St. Petersburg and worked at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Russia Bureau. He also served as a consultant for Thinkwell Media’s video series in American Government. In his spare time, he occasionally performs research for immigration and criminal appeals attorneys working in the 9th Circuit.
