Asmara Saleemi earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations from Southern Methodist University, and her master’s degree in political science from the University of North Texas. Her master’s thesis focused on “Electoral System Effects on Anti-Muslim Sentiments in Western Europe.”
Before teaching, she worked for two health care companies and interned as a research assistant at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. In 2015, she was honored with the Focus on Excellence Award and the Innovation of the Year Award at Brookhaven College.
In addition to teaching, Ms. Saleemi is a proud member of American Association of University Women. She travels extensively with her husband, allowing her to incorporate her experiences into the classroom. She is a first-generation American, fluent in Urdu and Hindi. Her goal is to prepare students for the global marketplace by challenging their beliefs and preconceptions about society and politics.
