If your first or native language is one other than English, you may be required to take English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL or ESL) courses.
Besides preparing you for college in the areas of oral communication, reading, writing and grammar, these courses teach the skills needed to meet the requirements of the
Texas Success Initiative (TSI).
Talk to an
advisor to find out whether you must take ESOL courses in order to enroll in a college of DCCCD. We offer
tests or assessments to determine your language skill levels.
All non-native English speakers are welcome to study in the Dallas County Community College District, regardless of language level, background or residency status.
