Our multidisciplinary learning approach provides a solid curriculum that integrates design and communication skills with the latest Mac computer technology. Small classes are taught by instructors who are working professionals in the industry.
Atrium Gallery Offers Student and Professional Exhibits
The Visual Communications program manages the Atrium Gallery on the Brookhaven campus. The gallery curates six exhibits each year of work by students and professionals in various visual communications fields, including graphic design, illustration, advertising and other media.
The Atrium Gallery is also home to the Texas 2Show, a statewide design competition for students from accredited two-year colleges and schools. The annual show is held in mid-October, and work is selected by a jury of area professionals.
Accreditation and Affiliations
The Visual Communications program is recognized by the Texas Skills Standards Board, an advisory board to the governor and legislature whose mission is to develop a system of skill standards for community and technical colleges. Brookhaven’s program is one of only two community college programs in Texas that have been awarded this prestigious recognition.
The Visual Communications program is also an accredited institutional member of the
National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), the national accrediting agency for art- and design-related disciplines.
