Getting Started with Distance Education Veterinary Technology Program
All students must declare their program of study as "Veterinary Assisting Certificate" when they apply, no exceptions. All courses utilized in the Veterinary Assisting Certificate are required for the AAS in Veterinary Technology degree and do not increase or decrease time spent in the program. Once a student has completed all the courses for the certificate and all general education courses, they will then change their program of study to the AAS degree in Veterinary Technology.
Application Process
All prospective students must complete the admissions process to be accepted into the distance learning program. The on-campus and distance learning program have different admissions procedures and requirements for entry so transition from one to the other is not as simple as just switching over. If you think you may want to switch to the on campus program but start with distance learning you must speak with the on campus advisor for vet tech (972-860-8253) prior to applying.
Students are accepted to the distance learning program year round but start classes in either fall, spring or summer.
Registration Process
All registration is completed online. Students who are using financial aid, scholarships, MYCAA, veteran's benefits, or other state or governmental reimbursement of tuition will need to contact the cashier's office for instructions on when payment must be received and the process for getting your tuition applied to your account.
