Occupational therapy helps people of all ages participate in activities they want to do through the therapeutic use of everyday tasks. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment of occupational therapy assistants and aides is projected to grow 31 percent from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations.
Mountain View has received accreditation for its Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program from the
Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE®). The accreditation process is designed to facilitate development, and substantial support is provided to the program during the process. Mountain View OTA graduates will be eligible to sit for National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the student will be a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate's ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.
