Auditions

Interested students wishing to audition for the 2020-2021 academic year should contact the Music program to schedule an online video conference or to send an audio or video recording of their audition. Instrumentalists should contact Derrick Logozzo at derricklogozzo@dcccd.edu, and vocalists should contact Melissa Logan at melissalogan@dcccd.edu.

Musical Components

Music auditions in the Richland Music program serve the following purposes:

  • Hearing students who wish to be Music majors, minors or participants in the program
  • Awarding music scholarships
  • Placing students in ensembles
  • Providing familiarity with Richland Music teaching concepts
  • Becoming aware of prospective students’ past experiences.

Auditions occur formally on the three Richland Music Audition Days each year, as well as by appointment on other occasions. Post-audition advising and a facilities tour occur after the audition as well. The Richland Music Audition Information Form must be filled out by students prior to the audition on site at the check-in. The presiding faculty member will fill out the Richland College Music Audition Comment Sheet and provide short feedback upon hearing the audition material. Students will be notified of their official entrance, placement and scholarship results in written form by the end of the audition period each academic year.
