The Piano and Keyboard area in the Richland Music program provides traditional classical studies and contemporary Jazz studies in solo and ensemble contexts.
Each piano major develops artistic repertoire and techniques in applied private lessons, while all Music majors develop functional piano skills for several aspects of a music career in a four-semester class sequence. Performance of different musical styles, accompaniment, harmonization, sight-reading, transposition and improvisation are all component skills in our piano curriculum.
The Piano instrument collection includes:
- A full Steinway Grand Piano
- Five Steinway, Yamaha and Baldwin Baby Grand Pianos
- 20 Yamaha P-22 Upright Pianos
- 25 Roland and Yamaha Piano Lab Pianos
