The Richland String Orchestra performs literature from baroque to contemporary styles and develops artistic programs for several evening and daytime concerts throughout the Richland Performance Season.
Conducted by Dr. Abel Rodriguez, Music faculty member, the ensemble performs various works with soloists and featured chamber groups, as well as Richland choral groups. Placement auditions occur throughout the year for all qualified violinists, violists, cellists and bassists. Scholarships are available. Members include mainly Music majors and minors, as well as participants with a background in solo and orchestral stringed instrument performing. Additional sectional rehearsals outside of class time occur on an as-needed basis. Richland-owned instruments and instrument lockers are available for student use as needed.

The String Orchestra performs a variety of repertoire, from contemporary programmatic works to baroque and classical pieces from the great composers.
