The choral music department at Richland offers four ensembles covering a wide variety of musical styles.
Chamber Singers: This is a large, mixed ensemble. The choir performs a wide variety of choral styles. Audition is required.
Vox Femina: This is a small, select women’s vocal ensemble. The choir performs a wide variety of choral styles. Audition is required.
Richmen: This is a small, select men’s vocal ensemble. The choir performs a wide variety of choral styles. Audition is required.
Jazz Singers: This ensemble provides students with the opportunity to study and perform jazz-style choral literature. Audition is required.
Voice class I: This course is for non-voice majors. It presents the principles of breathing, voice production, tone control, enunciation and phrasing.
Chorus: Opera Workshop: Students learn and perform various opera scenes from a variety of time periods and styles. Audition is required.
Voice Audition Requirements (Choir and Scholarship)
- Two songs memorized (your selections should be of the same quality as a Texas UIL solo)
- One of the two songs should be in a language other than English
- Sight-sing a unison melody
