Dr. Gemmy S. Allen

Co-Coordinator and Faculty, Business and Management Programs at North Lake

Dr. Gemmy S. Allen has a business background in management and marketing. Her education includes a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of North Texas and a Doctor of Education in leadership (Ed.D.) from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.

Awards include being named Outstanding Mountain View Faculty Member; receiving the Golden Oak Award from the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce; the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence in Teaching Award at both Mountain View and North Lake; Mountain View Innovator of the Year; and member of Innovation of the Year at North Lake, Cedar Valley, the LeCroy Center and the District Office.

Additionally, she has served as a member of Microsoft Mentors, the Microsoft/Compaq College Advisory Council and the St. Philip’s College Model Electronic Commerce Curriculum Advisory Committee. She is the founding teacher of the Virtual College of Texas — “Internet Teachers at Every College.”

She is also the co-author of the textbook “Management: Meeting and Exceeding Customer Expectations,” published by Cengage and now in its 11th edition. In addition, she has co-authored several discipline-specific, internet-related books and has developed several online classes.

Dr. Allen has made numerous presentations to industry and has led workshops in the United States, Australia and Mexico.​
